Diligent Institute Is Growing

| Brian Stafford

In 2018 we decided to launch Diligent Institute, Diligent’s corporate governance research arm and think tank, to give back to our global network of more than 700,000 board directors and governance professionals through original cutting-edge research, certifications and educational programs.

Fast forward to 2022, I am thrilled by all Diligent Institute has accomplished, under the leadership of Executive Director Dottie Schindlinger, to empower forward-thinking leadership and governance practices. The Institute has published more than 60 reports and thought leadership pieces on corporate governance; produced its AI-powered Corporate Sentiment Tracker and monthly Director Confidence Index with Corporate Board Member; launched the Climate Leadership Certificate Program and ESG Leadership Certificate Program with Competent Boards; and partnered with FORTUNE to create the Modern Board 25 – recognizing the 25 most innovative boards of public companies.

Now, I am excited to share that Diligent Institute is building on this success with a new expanded vision to inform, educate and connect leaders to champion modern governance. As part of this shift, Lisa Edwards will take on a new role as Executive Chair of Diligent Institute, after more than two years of serving as Diligent’s President & COO. In addition, the Institute welcomes Eric Shor as the new SVP, Head of Diligent Forum. Lisa and Eric will work together with Dottie and the wider team to build on the Institute’s success and reinforce its position as the leading authority on governance, risk, compliance, audit and ESG trends and insights.

As 2023 unfolds, Diligent Institute will:

  • Inform leaders with original, cutting-edge, data-driven global research and thought leadership on governance excellence, and through our director-focused podcasts.
  • Educate corporate leaders with the knowledge and credentials needed to navigate today’s most pressing issues.
  • Connect directors and executives through Diligent Forum, a new peer-to-peer network for Fortune 250 directors and executives; the Next Gen Board Leadership program; and the Director Network initiative to facilitate networking and share best practices and insights.
  • Champion modern governance through new awards and luminary programs recognizing governance excellence.

I am excited about what this new vision for the Institute will achieve to empower leaders with the information and best practices needed to lead with purpose.
